A magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck the southern Philippines, triggering tsunami warnings across parts of Asia and the western Pacific. Officials urged coastal residents in several Philippine provinces to evacuate to higher ground or move inland.
New York Red Bulls forward Dante Vanzeir has been suspended for six regular season games and fined by Major League Soccer (MLS) for using a racial slur during a match against the San Jose Earthquakes. In addition to the suspension and fine, Vanzeir will be required to participate in League-mandated training and education sessions, as well as a restorative practices program. He has issued an apology and addressed his teammates, but the amount of the fine has not been disclosed.
