College Baseball Player Struck by Stray Bullet at George Dobson Field in Texarkana

On Saturday evening, an 18-year-old college baseball player at Texas A&M-Texarkana was struck by a stray bullet during a game at George Dobson Field in Spring Lake Park, Texarkana. The student was taken to a local hospital and underwent surgery for his injuries, and is currently in stable condition. The university released a statement expressing their concern and thanking the Texarkana Police Department for their quick response, and is offering counseling services to any students affected by the incident.

Researchers Urge EPA to Continue Monitoring East Palestine, Ohio for Chemical Contamination After Train Derailment and Fire

A team of researchers from Carnegie Mellon University and Texas A&M conducted air monitoring to test for chemical contamination after a train derailment and chemical fire in East Palestine, Ohio. The researchers found levels of acrolein that could pose longer-term concern and have urged the EPA to continue to monitor the area and provide resources to the community. They hope their findings will help to ensure the safety of the residents.
