Breakthrough in Gilgo Beach Murders: Karen Vergata Identified After 24 Years

Investigators have identified the remains of Karen Vergata, found near Gilgo Beach on Long Island in 1996, as the latest breakthrough in the Gilgo Beach murders investigation. The investigation, which has been ongoing for over a decade, has identified most of the eleven sets of human remains found in or near Ocean Parkway since 2010, but some remain unnamed. The Suffolk County Police Department is asking anyone with information to contact them.
