Mother of 32-Year-Old Killed by Peloton Bike Files Lawsuit Against Company for Negligence and Failure to Warn of Potential Risks

Johanna Furtado is suing Peloton after her son, Ryan, was killed while using their exercise bike. The lawsuit alleges that the bike was "dangerous" and that the company failed to warn consumers of the potential risks. It is seeking damages for medical expenses, funeral costs, and other damages, as well as punitive damages to punish Peloton for its alleged negligence. Peloton has yet to respond to the lawsuit, but has previously stated that it stands behind its products and takes customer safety seriously.

Peloton Recalls 2.2 Million Exercise Bikes Due to Potential Safety Hazard

Peloton is recalling 2.2 million of its original exercise bikes due to a potential safety hazard, with 35 reports of the seat post breaking and detaching from the bike and 13 reports of injuries. Consumers are instructed to stop using the recalled exercise bikes and contact Peloton for a free repair, with the company offering a free seat post that can be self-installed or a free in-home installation. This is the second major recall Peloton has faced in the past year.

Disney+ Removes “The Simpsons” Episode from Streaming Service in Hong Kong Over Reference to “Forced Labor” in China

Disney+ has removed an episode of the popular animated show “The Simpsons” from its streaming service in Hong Kong due to its reference to “forced labor” in China. The episode follows the character Marge Simpson as she rides a Peloton-style bike with an instructor whose backdrop is the Great Wall of China and mentions “forced labor camps where children make smartphones”. The removal of the episode has raised concerns about censorship due to the country’s new national security law.
