Two people were wounded in a shooting attack in east Jerusalem on Saturday, the day after a gunman killed seven people near a synagogue in the city. U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has called for an end to the “senseless cycle of violence” and for all sides to “exercise maximum restraint and take steps to reduce tensions.” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has promised to “take all necessary steps to restore security and order to the city.”
