Philadelphia Experiences Wave of Looting Amid Protests Over Dismissal of Charges Against Police Officer

On Tuesday night, Philadelphia experienced a wave of looting in multiple neighborhoods across the city, with groups of mostly young people breaking into stores in Center City and North and Northeast Philadelphia. Interim Police Commissioner John Stanford said that the looters were not protesters and that they were “criminal opportunists” taking advantage of the situation, and the police are taking a “zero-tolerance” approach to the looting, with anyone found to be involved being prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

Suspect Makes Off With $100,000 in Dimes from Walmart Parking Lot in Philadelphia

A break-in occurred at a Walmart parking lot in Northeast Philadelphia, resulting in the theft of approximately $100,000 in dimes from a trailer carrying an estimated $750,000 worth of coins. Police are still searching for the suspect and are asking anyone with information to come forward. Clean-up crews are also working to clear the coins scattered across the parking lot and nearby road.
