On Friday afternoon in Fargo, North Dakota, a shooting occurred resulting in the death of one police officer and two others critically injured, as well as a civilian seriously wounded. North Dakota Attorney General Drew Wrigley has confirmed that the state Bureau of Criminal Investigation is working with federal, state and local authorities to investigate the incident, and the motive behind the shooting is still unknown. Witnesses reported seeing a man open fire on officers before other officers shot him, and the suspect was killed during the exchange of gunfire.

A rare solar storm is bringing the northern lights to 17 states in the United States, including Alaska, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Indiana, New York, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine and Maryland. US Air Force Relieves Commanders and Subordinates at North Dakota Nuclear Base After Failed Safety Inspection

The US Air Force has relieved two commanders and four of their subordinates at a nuclear base in North Dakota after their units failed a safety inspection. The inspection was designed to ensure the safety and security of the nuclear weapons stockpile, and some of the vehicles and equipment that failed had not been brought into compliance with regulations. The Air Force has a zero-tolerance policy for any failure to meet the standards of the inspection process, and will continue to ensure that all of its personnel and equipment meet the highest standards of safety and security.
