150 Rescuers Working to Save American Speleologist Stranded 3,400 Feet Below Ground in Turkish Cave System

An international team of rescuers is working to save an American speleologist who has become ill while exploring a cave in Turkey. Mark Dickey, 40, is stuck several thousand feet below the ground and is suffering from gastrointestinal bleeding. The rescue operation is logistically and technically one of the largest cave rescues in the world and is expected to take several days.

Devastating Earthquake in Turkey and Syria Leaves Hundreds Dead and Injured

A powerful 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck southern Turkey and northern Syria on Monday morning, killing at least 360 people and injuring 440. Rescue teams are working to reach those trapped in the rubble, with the death toll rising in both government-controlled and rebel-held areas. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has declared a day of national mourning and is urging citizens to donate blood for the injured.
