Suspected Lewiston Shooter Robert Card Found Dead by Law Enforcement

Robert Card, a 40-year-old firearms instructor, has been found dead by law enforcement near a recycling plant in the Lisbon area, eight miles southwest of Lewiston, Maine. He had been named a suspect in Wednesday's mass shooting at two businesses in Lewiston, which killed 18 people. Hundreds of state and local police and federal agents had been involved in the manhunt since the shootings. A news conference is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET Friday night to provide further information.

Maine Law Enforcement Officers Continue Search for Suspected Mass Shooter Robert Card

Law enforcement officers in Lewiston, Maine are searching for Robert Card, the suspected perpetrator of a massacre that left 18 people dead. Maine Public Safety Commissioner Mike Sauschuck has announced regular 10 a.m. media briefings and the deployment of divers to the area near the boat ramp to check for evidence. Dozens of local, county, state and federal law enforcement officials are using sonar, helicopters, and dams in the search, and are asking anyone with information to contact the Lewiston Police Department.

Thousands of Israeli government workers joined historic protests on Monday against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's attempt to weaken Israeli courts and boost his own power. The protests were bolstered by a strike call from Israel's biggest labor union, the Histadrut, and were in response to Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich's call for supporters to demonstrate in Jerusalem in favor of the judicial overhaul. Despite the government's attempts to appease its critics, it remains to be seen if the protests will have any effect on the judicial changes.
