A couple from Florida has been arrested and charged with aggravated manslaughter of a child after their 18-month-old daughter was left in their car overnight. The parents, Joel and Jazmine Rondon, had attended a Fourth of July party with their three children and allegedly left the 18-month-old in the car when they got home. Sheriff Grady Judd said the incident was particularly tragic due to the extreme heat. The Rondons are currently being held in the Polk County Jail and the investigation is ongoing.

Mortgage applications have dropped to a 28-year low as mortgage rates continue to rise, according to the Mortgage Bankers Association. Refinances are more than 70% down from last year, and the housing market is still trying to adjust to the pandemic's impact on the economy. Joel Kan, MBA’s associate vice president of economic and industry forecasting, noted that the increase in mortgage rates has caused some buyers to pull back.
