Justice Department Ready to Work with Congressional Investigators, But Will Not Share Information on Ongoing Cases

The Justice Department has informed Rep. Jim Jordan, the new chair of the House Judiciary Committee, that it is ready to work with congressional investigators, but it will not share information about ongoing cases. The department's letter stated that any oversight requests must be weighed against the Department's interests in protecting the integrity of its work. Rep. Jordan had requested information on a range of topics, including immigration enforcement, investigations into threats against school boards, and some investigations known to be active.

Justice Department Appoints Robert Hur to Oversee Investigation into Classified Documents Found at President Biden’s Home and Office

Robert Hur, a former US attorney in Maryland, has been appointed by the Justice Department to investigate the classified documents found at President Joe Biden's home and former private office. The House Judiciary Committee has also opened an investigation, sending a letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland demanding all documents and communications related to the discovery. Hur has a long and distinguished career as a prosecutor, having played a key role in a number of high-profile cases.
