In honor of Transgender Day of Remembrance, the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) released a report highlighting the disproportionate violence faced by Black trans women. President Joe Biden released a statement recognizing the importance of fighting against discrimination and violence against the transgender community. The HRC report calls for increased protections for the transgender community, such as the Equality Act, and an end to the criminalization of transgender people.

The Human Rights Campaign (HRC) has declared a national state of emergency for LGBTQ+ Americans due to an unprecedented spike in anti-LGBTQ+ legislative assaults. The HRC has released a guidebook for action which includes information on discriminatory laws, “know your rights” information, and health and safety resources. The organization is calling on all Americans to take action and help ensure the safety of LGBTQ+ individuals.
