Texas Man Sentenced to 3 1/2 Years in Prison for Threatening Maricopa County Election Officials

Frederick Goltz, a Texas man, was sentenced to 3 1/2 years in federal prison for making threats against election officials in Maricopa County, Arizona. He posted the name, address, phone number, and fax machine of a Maricopa County official on two websites, as well as threatening the official and their children. This was part of a larger trend of threats against election officials across the country after the 2020 election, and U.S. Attorney Gregg Sofer said that these threats will be taken seriously and prosecuted.

Auckland, New Zealand is bracing for Cyclone Gabrielle, with Air New Zealand cancelling domestic and international flights, schools and universities closing, and the InterCity bus network reducing services. The MetService has already recorded gale force winds and issued a severe weather warning for the North Island, with heavy rain and strong winds expected. People are urged to take the necessary precautions to ensure their safety.
