Two Black quarterbacks, Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs and Jalen Hurts of the Philadelphia Eagles, will make history when they face off in Super Bowl LVII on February 12th. This will be the first time in Super Bowl history that two Black quarterbacks will be starting for each side. Doug Williams was the first Black quarterback to start and win the Super Bowl in 1988, while Russell Wilson was the second in 2013 and Mahomes was the third in 2020. If the Eagles win, Hurts would become the fourth Black quarterback to win a Super Bowl.

Former Republican New Mexico State House candidate Solomon Peña was arrested Monday following a SWAT standoff in connection with a string of shootings at the homes of local Democratic elected leaders. Peña, who was wearing a "Make America Great Again" hoodie in front of two Trump flags, is expected to face charges related to four shootings that occurred at the homes of two state legislators and two county commissioners, but no one was injured.

Former Republican Candidate Arrested in Connection with Drive-By Shootings of Democratic Politicians in Albuquerque

Albuquerque Police arrested Solomon Peña, a former Republican candidate for the New Mexico House of Representatives, on Monday in connection with multiple drive-by shootings at the homes of local Democratic politicians. Peña, who was wearing a "Make America Great Again" hoodie and had two Trump flags in the background, is believed to be the mastermind behind the shootings and is being held in the Bernalillo County Jail facing multiple charges. The investigation is ongoing and more information will be released as it becomes available.
