A 26-year-old woman from Boulder, Colorado died after falling 500 feet while free-solo climbing a ridge at Rocky Mountain National Park. Her 27-year-old male climbing partner, also from Boulder, notified park rangers of her fall and was rescued by a Colorado Air National Guard helicopter. Three Colorado teens have been charged with first-degree murder with extreme indifference in the death of 20-year-old Alexa Bartell. The incident occurred on April 19th when the teens allegedly threw rocks and other objects at cars, one of which went through Bartell's windshield, killing her. The teens have been identified and are currently being held in the Jefferson County jail awaiting trial, as the investigation is ongoing.
The Clark County coroner's office has identified human remains found at Lake Mead in Nevada last summer as those of Claude Russell Pensinger, a 52-year-old man who went missing in 1998. His brother identified him as a Navy and Coast Guard veteran, and the remains were found on three different dates. The cause of death is still unknown, but the coroner's office said it is not suspicious.
