Federal Judge Issues Temporary Restraining Order to Prevent Removal of Confederate Memorial at Arlington National Cemetery

A federal judge has issued a temporary restraining order to prevent the removal of a Confederate memorial at Arlington National Cemetery, after a lawsuit was filed by a group called Defend Arlington. The lawsuit claims the Army violated regulations in seeking a hasty removal of the memorial, and the restraining order will remain in effect until a hearing on the matter scheduled for January 6th. Work to remove the memorial had begun Monday before the restraining order was issued, but the memorial remains in place on cemetery grounds.

Nine People Injured in Shooting on Hollywood Beach Broadwalk on Memorial Day

On Monday evening, nine people were injured in a shooting on the Hollywood Beach Broadwalk in Hollywood, Florida. Four of the victims were children between the ages of 1 and 17, and several of the injured were taken to a children's hospital. The police have not yet released any information about the shooter or the motive, but are actively searching for the suspect and have asked anyone with information to come forward.

President Biden Honors Fallen U.S. Troops at Arlington National Cemetery on Memorial Day

On Monday, President Joe Biden paid tribute to fallen U.S. troops at Arlington National Cemetery on Memorial Day, joined by House Speaker Kevin McCarthy. Biden acknowledged the pain of those who have lost loved ones and the ceremony concluded with a 21-gun salute and the playing of “Taps.” This was Biden's first visit to the cemetery since taking office and he is the fourth consecutive president to honor the fallen on Memorial Day.
