Lawsuit Filed Against Texas Governor and Attorney General for Suspension of Black High School Student Over Hairstyle

The lawsuit claims that the school district's dress code is discriminatory and violates George's civil rights, citing the CROWN Act which prohibits discrimination based on hairstyles associated with race. The lawsuit seeks an injunction to end George's suspension and prevent the school district from enforcing the dress code in a discriminatory manner, as well as damages for George's emotional distress.

Texas Sheriff’s Deputy Arrested After Baby Left in Hot Car for Three Hours

A Texas sheriff's deputy was arrested after leaving his 2-month-old baby in a hot car for three hours, resulting in the infant being taken to the hospital in critical condition. The National Weather Service warns that temperatures inside of a car can reach up to 20 degrees higher than the outside temperature, and that leaving a window cracked does not make a difference. The Bexar County Sheriff's Office released a statement saying they are "committed to ensuring justice is served".

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton was acquitted on Saturday by the state Senate of 16 impeachment articles, ending a two-week trial that featured substantial evidence of alleged corruption. The United States Department of Justice has announced the extradition of Ovidio Guzman Lopez, the son of former Sinaloa Cartel leader Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman Loera, to the United States. U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland said the extradition is part of the Justice Department's effort to attack the cartel's operations, and comes just two days after El Chapo's wife was released from a federal prison. Lopez is currently in federal custody in Chicago and is facing drug trafficking charges, but no further details have been released.
