LSU’s Jayden Daniels Wins Heisman Trophy, Becoming First Player Since 2016 to Win College Football’s Most Prestigious Player of the Year Award

Jayden Daniels, a fifth-year quarterback from LSU, won the Heisman Trophy on Saturday night, becoming the first player since 2016 to win the award from a non-championship team. He received 503 first-place votes and 2,029 points, and had a prolific season with 3,890 passing yards, 33 touchdowns, and 741 rushing yards. Alsu Kurmasheva, an editor with Radio Free Europe-Radio Liberty's Tatar-Bashkir service, has been detained in Russia and charged with failing to register as a foreign agent. This is the latest in a series of incidents targeting journalists in Russia, which has seen a crackdown on press freedom in recent years.
