Alabama Man Featured in ‘S-Town’ Podcast Killed in Weekend Standoff With Law Enforcement

Joseph Tyler Goodson, 32, of Woodstock, Alabama, was shot and killed by officers during a weekend standoff in the rural community. The Woodstock Police Department had responded to a “call for service” and Goodson had barricaded himself inside a home and “brandished a gun” at officers. The ALEA is currently investigating the incident and has asked anyone with information to contact their office.

Tragedy Strikes Baltimore Beltway: Six Construction Workers Killed in Crash, Investigation Ongoing

Six construction workers were killed Wednesday in a crash along the Baltimore beltway, according to Maryland State Police. The crash occurred when a driver of an Acura sedan attempted to change lanes and collided with another vehicle, causing the Acura to lose control and travel through a barrier opening into the work zone, fatally striking six construction workers. Maryland State Police are investigating the cause of the crash and asking anyone with information to contact them.

FBI and ALEA Investigating Death of Pretrial Detainee Anthony Mitchell in Alabama Jail

Anthony Mitchell, a 33-year-old pretrial detainee at the Walker County Jail in Alabama, died after being left naked on a concrete jail floor for days and being transported to the hospital with dangerously low body temperature. His family has filed a lawsuit alleging negligence by the jail staff, and the FBI has joined the investigation. The lawsuit seeks unspecified damages and a jury trial, in the hopes of bringing justice for Mitchell and preventing similar tragedies in the future.
