Sudan's national state television channel is back on air, broadcasting messages in support of the country's armed forces. This comes as intense clashes between the military and paramilitary forces have resulted in nearly 100 civilian deaths, with airstrikes, shelling and gunfire hitting busy neighborhoods across the country. The United Nations has called for an immediate end to the violence and for all parties to respect international humanitarian law.

On Saturday, clashes between Sudan's military and a powerful paramilitary force erupted in Khartoum and other parts of the country, threatening the transition to democracy and leading to at least 26 deaths and 100 injuries. Paramilitary chief Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo claims to have seized most of Khartoum's official sites, though military leader General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan disputes this. The international community is calling for an immediate end to the violence and a return to the negotiating table to ensure the transition to democracy is not derailed.
