A hostage standoff at a Bakersfield office building ended Wednesday when FBI personnel fatally shot the suspect, police said. All hostages were freed unharmed after the confrontation began with a bomb threat Tuesday afternoon.

Authorities evacuated part of downtown Bakersfield after a reported bomb threat at a Chase bank branch. Police said an unidentified man was barricaded inside with an unknown number of people, and at least one hostage was reported by a local CBS affiliate.
The White House was briefly locked down Saturday evening after 20 to 30 gunshots were heard nearby. The Secret Service and FBI responded, and the lockdown was lifted within an hour.
