Coast Guard and Hawaii Fire Department Continue Search for Missing Hawaii Fisherman Mark Knittle

A Hawaii fisherman, Mark Knittle, went overboard on Sunday while trying to reel in a "huge" tuna. The Coast Guard and Hawaii Fire Department have been searching the waters off Hōnaunau since Sunday, and are expected to continue looking until sundown. Knittle's family and friends are asking for prayers for his safe return.

Colorado Library Closes for Second Time in a Month Due to Meth Contamination

The Englewood Library in Colorado has been closed for the second time in a month due to methamphetamine contamination. Signs were placed on the outside doors of the library to advise visitors, and other spaces such as countertops also tested positive for lower levels of the drug. The city is now considering new protocols to prevent similar issues from occurring in the future and is working with local authorities to determine when the library can reopen.

Boston Unveils Monument Honoring Legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Coretta Scott King

On Friday, a 20-foot tall, 40-foot wide bronze sculpture honoring the legacy of civil rights leaders Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Coretta Scott King was unveiled on Boston Common. The monument, called “The Embrace,” depicts the couple’s arms embracing each other and has sparked mixed reactions. Seneca Scott, the Kings’ eldest son, defended the monument in a statement, saying it is a symbol of love, hope, and resilience. Martin Luther King III attended the unveiling ceremony and said he was “overwhelmed with emotion” to see the sculpture honoring his parents’ legacy.

Tragedy Strikes Fort Pierce Community During Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration, 8 Shot and 4 Injured

At least eight people have been shot and four others injured at a Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebration in Fort Pierce, Florida. One of the victims was critically injured, and four others were injured while trying to leave the area. The sheriff's office is continuing to investigate the shooting and is asking anyone with information to contact them.

Oklahoma Authorities Now Treating Search for Missing 4-Year-Old Girl as a “Recovery Operation”

Oklahoma authorities are treating the search for 4-year-old Athena Brownfield as a "recovery operation" after her 5-year-old sister was found wandering alone outside the home of the couple caring for them. The OSBI is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for Athena’s disappearance. The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact the OSBI tip line.

Body of Missing Man Found in Sunken Sailboat Off Fort Myers Beach After Hurricane Ian

Nearly four months after Hurricane Ian hit Florida, the body of James “Denny” Hurst, 72, has been found in a sunken sailboat off Fort Myers Beach. The Lee County Sheriff’s Office found the boat, named "Good Girl," in Matanzas Pass and said Hurst was last known to have been on board when the storm hit. He was the last known person still missing in Lee County after the Category 4 hurricane, and the Sheriff's Office is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
