Cuban Government Uncovers Human Trafficking Network Recruiting Citizens to Fight in Russia’s War in Ukraine

Enrique Tarrio, Former Chairman of the Far-Right Proud Boys, to be Sentenced for Role in Jan. 6 Capitol Attack

Enrique Tarrio, the former chairman of the far-right Proud Boys, is set to be sentenced Tuesday afternoon for his role in the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol. Federal prosecutors are seeking a sentence of 33 years, but U.S. District Judge Timothy Kelly is expected to sentence Tarrio to a much lower term. Tarrio's co-defendants have already been sentenced, and Dominic Pezzola, the fifth defendant in the seditious conspiracy trial, is still awaiting sentencing. Tarrio's sentencing is expected to provide further insight into the scope of the Jan. 6 conspiracy.

Pershing County Sheriff’s Office Investigates Death at Burning Man Festival

The Pershing County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death of one person at the Burning Man festival this weekend, which occurred during a severe bout of rain. The Burning Man Project is working with the Sheriff's Office to investigate the death and ensure the safety of all attendees, while the CEO of the Burning Man Project expressed surprise at the attention the death has received. The Sheriff's Office declined to share additional information about the death or the investigation.
