A federal judge in Atlanta has denied White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows' request to move his Georgia election subversion case to federal court, ruling that he had not met the "quite low" threshold to do so. Judge Steve Jones found that Meadows had not met his burden of proof that the case should be moved to federal court, and the case will now proceed in Georgia state court. New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham has issued an emergency public health order suspending the open and permitted concealed carry of firearms in Albuquerque for 30 days in response to a recent spate of gun violence. Former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows' request to move his criminal case to federal court was denied by U.S. District Judge Steve C. Jones on Friday, who ruled that Meadows' alleged involvement in Trump's effort to reverse his loss was not related to his role as Chief of Staff. The case, brought by Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, will remain in Fulton County court, where Meadows and Trump face charges of election interference as part of a sweeping investigation into allegations of election fraud and interference in the 2020 election.
Ruby Franke, a former YouTube parenting advice vlogger, and her business partner Jodi Hildebrandt appeared in court on Friday to face six felony counts of aggravated child abuse. Their virtual hearing was delayed due to the large number of people trying to log in and watch, and the charges stem from Franke's malnourished son running to a neighbor's house asking for food and water. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for October 5th.
