Three people were killed, including the suspected shooter, and another person was injured Wednesday morning in a shooting at a home in Prospect Hill, North Carolina, authorities said.

Caswell County deputies responded just before 8 a.m. to a call for service at a home on Brooks Road, the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation said. When deputies arrived, they found multiple people who had been shot.

One person was taken to Duke University Hospital with a gunshot wound, the bureau said. The person’s condition was not released.

The identities of the victims and the suspected shooter have not been made public. Caswell County Sheriff Tony Durden said at a news conference that everyone involved was an adult and that all were members of the same family, NBC News reported.

Authorities have not released details about what led to the shooting. Durden said there was no evidence that the family had previously contacted the sheriff’s office.

The Caswell County Sheriff’s Office and the North Carolina State Highway Patrol responded immediately after the shooting, the State Bureau of Investigation said. SBI crime scene investigators remained at the home Wednesday, processing evidence and conducting interviews.

The bureau said the shooting was contained to the home and that there was no threat to the general public.

“This was an isolated incident and please keep the family in your prayers,” Durden said.

Further details about the incident were still emerging Wednesday.
