The New York Police Department said officers responded at about 10:37 p.m. after a 911 call reported multiple people shot at 2929 West 31st St. When officers arrived, they found eight people with gunshot wounds. All were taken to hospitals in the area.
The victims range in age from 6 to 37, according to police. The 21-year-old woman was shot in the chest and remained in critical condition. The other seven victims were listed in stable condition.
Four of those injured were juveniles between the ages of 6 and 14. Police said a 6-year-old boy was shot in the stomach, a 7-year-old boy was shot in both legs, a 12-year-old boy was shot in the leg and a 14-year-old boy was shot in the thigh.
A firearm was recovered at the scene, police said. No arrests have been made.
Investigators are working to identify any persons of interest, and the investigation is ongoing.
