Kendra Duggar Arrested on Misdemeanor Charges Following Husband Joseph Duggar’s Child Molestation Arrest

Kendra Duggar, wife of Joseph Duggar, was arrested on misdemeanor charges including second-degree endangering the welfare of a minor and second-degree false imprisonment, according to records from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office in Arkansas. Her arrest occurred on Friday afternoon, shortly after her husband Joseph Duggar was taken into custody on charges related to child molestation. Kendra Duggar was booked just before 5 p.m. local time and released a little over an hour later. The Tontitown Police Department confirmed that both Kendra and Joseph Duggar face the same misdemeanor counts, but additional details have not been disclosed due to the ongoing nature of the investigation and legal restrictions protecting minors.

Joseph Duggar, 31, was arrested on Wednesday in Tontitown, Arkansas, following allegations that he molested a 9-year-old girl during a family vacation in Panama City Beach, Florida, in 2020. The Bay County Sheriff’s Office in Florida charged him with lewd and lascivious behavior on a child under 12 years old. According to the arrest affidavit, the victim, who is now 14, reported that Duggar had molested her multiple times during the trip. Joseph Duggar remains in custody in Arkansas as authorities await his extradition to Florida. It is unclear if he has retained legal representation or if he has been formally charged in Arkansas.

The Duggar family rose to public attention through the TLC reality show “19 Kids and Counting,” which aired from 2008 to 2015 and chronicled the lives of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar and their 19 children. The show was canceled following the arrest of the eldest son, Josh Duggar, who was convicted in 2021 on federal charges related to receiving and possessing child sexual abuse material. Prior to his conviction, Josh Duggar was also accused of molesting several minors, including four of his sisters and a babysitter. The recent arrests of Joseph and Kendra Duggar have renewed public scrutiny of the family.

In response to Joseph Duggar’s arrest, his sister Jill Duggar Dillard and other family members issued a statement condemning abuse and expressing support for the legal process. “We strongly condemn abuse,” the statement read. “We support the rule of law and hope that justice will be achieved. Our hearts go out to the innocent juvenile victim of this unspeakable crime and her family.” As of late Friday, the Duggar family had not issued further comments regarding the ongoing investigation or the charges against Joseph and Kendra Duggar.
