Former Proud Boys Leader Enrique Tarrio and Three Subordinates to Face Sentencing Wednesday for Involvement in Capitol Attack

A federal judge is set to sentence former Proud Boys leader Enrique Tarrio and three of his subordinates on Wednesday for their involvement in the January 6th Capitol attack. Prosecutors have requested the longest sentence yet for Tarrio, 33 years in prison, and 27 years for his subordinate, Ethan Nordean.

Tarrio and his three co-defendants, Joseph Biggs, Ethan Nordean, and Zachary Rehl, were found guilty in May of seditious conspiracy, the most serious charge brought in the Justice Department’s probe of the Capitol attack. Dominic Pezzola, another co-defendant, was found not guilty of seditious conspiracy, but convicted on other counts.

The Capitol attack on January 6th was one of the most severe breaches of the Capitol in recent history. Tarrio and the men he recruited and led are alleged to have participated in every consequential breach on that day.

The sentencing of Tarrio and Nordean will take place Wednesday morning and afternoon, respectively. Tarrio’s sentencing could set the precedent for the other defendants, as prosecutors are seeking the longest sentence yet.
