Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have announced the end of their podcasting partnership with Spotify. The couple had signed a multi-year deal with the streaming service in December 2020, with the intention of producing and presenting podcasts.

The only podcast released under the agreement was “Archetypes”, a one-off festive special featuring their son Archie and a host of celebrity friends, which was launched in August 2022.

In a joint statement, both parties said they had “mutually agreed to part ways and are proud of the series we made together.” A representative for Spotify said the decision meant that Meghan’s “Archetypes” podcast would not be returning.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex had hoped to use the platform to “investigate, dissect, and subvert the labels that try to hold women back”, under their Archewell Audio podcast imprint.

The end of the partnership marks the end of Harry and Meghan’s foray into podcasting, at least for the time being. It is not yet known what the couple’s next move will be, but it is likely that they will continue to pursue their passion for audio and video production.
