A Kentucky Republican congressman has accused the Biden administration of lacking transparency in its handling of classified documents.

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer on Sunday expressed his concerns on CNN’s “State of the Union”, citing a report from CBS that revealed the possession of classified documents prior to the election. Comer has since requested additional information about the situation.

The White House has acknowledged that two batches of records had been previously disclosed, and that more classified documents from the Obama administration had been found at the president’s Wilmington residence.

In a letter to White House Chief of Staff Ron Klain, Comer wrote: “So the administration hasn’t been transparent about what’s going on with President Biden’s possession of classified documents. As Chief of Staff, you are head of the Executive Office of the President and bear responsibility to be transparent with the American people on these important issues related to the White House’s handling of […]”

Comer has called on the Biden administration to provide more information about the documents, and to explain why the documents were not previously disclosed. He has also asked for an explanation of the security protocols in place to protect the documents.

The Biden administration has yet to respond to Comer’s letter. It remains to be seen whether the White House will provide the requested information or take further steps to address the issue.
