Wreckage Found on New York Shoreline Believed to be Part of Historic SS Savannah Ship

A piece of wreckage from the SS Savannah, the first vessel to cross the Atlantic Ocean partly under steam power, was discovered on a New York shoreline after Tropical Storm Ian last fall. The Fire Island Lighthouse Preservation Society and National Park Service are now working together to identify the wreckage and put it on public display. If the wreckage is confirmed to be from the SS Savannah, it would be a significant find for historians and researchers.

2 Deaths Confirmed in Rock Slide at Yosemite National Park – Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office Investigating

Two people have died in a rock slide at Yosemite National Park this week, with the identities of the victims yet to be released. The park, which welcomed 3.3 million visitors in 2021, has closed Big Oak Flat Road east of Foresta as a result of the incident, which is currently under investigation.
