LA County Sheriff Robert Luna Condemns Deputy for Punching Mother Holding Infant During Arrest

Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna has announced that a deputy punched a mother holding a 3-week-old infant during an arrest last year, which was captured on body camera footage. The deputy has been taken off field duty and the case has been sent to the district attorney's office to decide if criminal charges should be filed. The FBI has also been alerted to the incident.

A 12-hour manhunt for a gunman who killed 11 people and injured almost as many at a Monterey Park, California dance studio Saturday night ended with the arrest of 72-year-old Huu Can Tran. Brandon Tsay, who confronted the suspect in the lobby of a dance hall run by his family, was praised for his heroic actions by Sheriff Robert Luna. Monterey Park Police Chief Scott Wiese described the scene as "chaos and extensive carnage" when officers arrived, and the motive behind the attack is still under investigation.
