Singer-songwriter Cassie has filed a lawsuit in Manhattan federal court accusing rapper Sean "Diddy" Combs of rape and physical abuse over the course of a decade. The 35-page complaint details numerous allegations of abuse, including forcing Cassie to engage in sexual acts with male sex workers and breaking into her home after their breakup. The lawsuit comes at a time when the music industry is facing increased scrutiny over its treatment of women, and Combs has yet to publicly comment on the allegations.

R&B singer R. Kelly was sentenced to 20 years in prison on Thursday for his convictions of child pornography and the enticement of minors for sex. U.S. District Judge Harry Leinenweber decided that Kelly should serve one year in prison following his New York sentence for 2021 racketeering and sex trafficking convictions. Kelly is currently in federal custody and his lawyers plan to appeal the convictions.
Cook County State's Attorney Kim Foxx has announced the dropping of sex-abuse charges against R. Kelly, citing limited resources and court time. Kelly is already serving a 30-year prison sentence on federal charges, and is expected to remain in prison for the remainder of his life. Despite the charges being dropped, Kelly still faces a civil lawsuit in Minnesota and a federal lawsuit in New York.
