US Air Force Relieves Commanders and Subordinates at North Dakota Nuclear Base After Failed Safety Inspection

The US Air Force has relieved two commanders and four of their subordinates at a nuclear base in North Dakota after their units failed a safety inspection. The inspection was designed to ensure the safety and security of the nuclear weapons stockpile, and some of the vehicles and equipment that failed had not been brought into compliance with regulations. The Air Force has a zero-tolerance policy for any failure to meet the standards of the inspection process, and will continue to ensure that all of its personnel and equipment meet the highest standards of safety and security.
