Twenty-one people have been charged with domestic terrorism after a violent clash with police at a police training center under construction outside of Atlanta. The protesters reportedly changed into black clothing and threw large rocks, bricks, Molotov cocktails, and fireworks at police officers. The incident is still under investigation, and the Atlanta Police Department has urged the public to remain peaceful and respectful of the law.
A Georgia state trooper was shot and wounded near the Atlanta Public Safety Training Center, a controversial future law enforcement training site, during a clearing operation conducted by the GBI and other law enforcement agencies. An individual allegedly shot at law enforcement without warning, and was killed by police return fire. The wounded trooper was taken to a local hospital for treatment, and the proposed $90 million center is on hold pending the outcome of the investigation.
