Judge Denies Tory Lanez’s Motion for New Trial, Sentencing Hearing Scheduled for April 23

Rapper Tory Lanez has been denied a motion for a new trial by a Los Angeles judge on Tuesday, and is now facing sentencing for the three felonies he was convicted of in December for shooting hip-hop star Megan Thee Stallion in the feet and wounding her. The maximum sentence for the charges is 22 years and 8 months in state prison, but the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office has said that it will not seek the maximum sentence. The sentencing hearing is scheduled for April 23, 2021.

Tragedy in Allen, Texas: Eight Killed and Several Wounded in Shooting at Outlets Mall

Eight people were killed and several others were wounded in a shooting at the Allen Premium Outlets mall in Dallas, Texas on Saturday. The gunman, 33-year-old Mauricio Garcia, was forced out of the military due to mental health concerns and had three guns on him when he began his attack. An Allen police officer was able to shoot and kill the gunman within 3-4 minutes, saving countless lives and leaving the community of Allen, Texas in shock and mourning. The victims of the shooting have not yet been identified.

Army Announces Mandatory Aviation Stand-Down After Two Fatal Helicopter Crashes

The U.S. Army has announced a mandatory aviation stand-down in response to two fatal helicopter crashes in the last month, which killed three soldiers in Alaska and seven in Kentucky. The stand-down will require all Army aviators, except those participating in critical missions, to complete the required training in order to ensure the safety of aviators and prevent future accidents. The Army is conducting an investigation into both crashes to determine the cause.

The jury found Perry guilty of murder after deliberating for less than two hours, sparking debate over the use of lethal force in self-defense and the potential for racial bias in the justice system.
