U.S. envoys Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff are in Doha to meet Qatari mediators, but Qatar and Iran say no direct U.S.-Iran talks are scheduled. Disputes over $6 billion in frozen assets, shipping through the Strait of Hormuz and Lebanon remain unresolved.
Iran struck US military sites in Kuwait and Bahrain after Washington hit Iranian targets near the Strait of Hormuz. Both sides accused the other of violating a June 17 ceasefire agreement tied to safe passage through the key waterway.
