Anthropic disabled access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 after the U.S. government ordered it to block foreign nationals from using the models over security concerns. The company said the directive was based on a narrow alleged jailbreak and stemmed from “a misunderstanding.”

Hundreds of AI experts, including executives from Microsoft and Google, have signed an open letter warning of the potential risks posed by AI and calling for global action to mitigate the risk of extinction from the technology. The letter states that the risk posed by AI is on the same scale as nuclear war or pandemics, and should be taken seriously.
