Millions of people in coastal New England and eastern Canada are under storm watches and warnings Saturday as Post-Tropical Cyclone Lee continues to threaten the region with hurricane-force winds, torrential rain, and coastal flooding.

The National Hurricane Center downgraded Lee from a hurricane to a post-tropical cyclone, but the storm still poses a danger to the area. On Saturday morning, the storm was located about 300 miles southeast of Nantucket, Massachusetts.

In Bar Harbor, Maine, only two lobster boats were in the water compared to the usual 20 to 25. Lobsterman Bruce Young had his 38-foot vessel transported to the local airport, saying it was better to be safe than sorry.

Steve Train, a commercial lobster fisherman on Long Island, had just finished hauling 200 traps out of the water. He was planning to wait out the storm on the island in Casco Bay.

“There’s going to be huge white rollers coming in on top of 50 to 60 mph winds,” Train said.

Residents in the area are urged to take precautions and make final preparations as the storm approaches. The National Hurricane Center is continuing to monitor the storm and will provide updates as needed.
